ABOUT WFM

The Women’s Freedom Museum is an unconditional telling of women’s history,
exploring every aspect, told through countless voices, to educate and inspire equality for everyone.

Men hold the important decision making positions in all political, social and religious institutions that construct our culture. This unequal status has lead to a failure to adequately address women’s issues like sexual and gender violence, discrimination and objectification. We need a place that tears down the socially created barriers, a place where society can look at the history of half its population, witness that for centuries women and men have not shared the same rights and how this has created a bias that still undermines total equality today.

Only through awareness can women hope to change their position in society. Through historic exhibitions, current perspectives, ongoing political debates and educational programs, the Women’s Freedom Museum will work to incite reflection as well as action against both external and internalized discrimination towards women. With cultural bias addressed head on, women’s issues will finally become the issues of society as a whole.

HOW CAN WE PROMOTE POSITIVE CHANGE?
One area in which women have thrived and made a huge impact, as well as holding major leadership roles, is Charities. There are organizations working in support of women’s issues on every front. For every issue we will list the respective organizations making a difference, enabling people to get involved.

POP CULTURE

THE HANDMAID’S TALE is a new HULU series based on the 1985 book by Margaret Atwood. It’s a chilling tale of a dystopian society that strikes soberingly close to home. But maybe a game of BINGOh can lighten the mood, (or maybe not.)
