For fifty years, Marcy Morrison was the first woman in nearly every room she entered - school board, county commission, state legislature, mayor's office. Even the bathroom. When she discovered that real decisions were being made in the men's room, she made it her business to be there too. In each room she fought for the same thing: the health and welfare of women, children, and those the safety net was failing. Her own party tried to primary her out of existence for it. She outlasted them, and kept going. Then she built Pikes Peak Women (PPW) - a civic network that grew to over 1,000 women - to make sure the next generation had a room of their own from the start. When asked how she survived fifty years in politics without losing herself: "I prevailed not by compromising myself, but by being myself."
